Type: PhD and Postdoc Positions

The Industrial Sustainability Analysis Lab at Northwestern University is recruiting one or more postdoctoral researchers to support projects related to systems evaluation of emerging technologies for industrial sector decarbonization.

The selected candidate(s) will have demonstrated experience in engineering process systems modeling, techno-economic analysis, and energy systems analysis. Familiarity with material flow analysis, life cycle assessment, and/or system dynamics methods would be a plus.

The selected candidate(s) will support one or more of the following projects: (1) development of technology-rich materials cycle models to evaluate pathways to low-carbon built environments; (2) techno-economic potentials modeling for accelerating the adoption of solar industrial process heating and electrification technologies; and (3) techno-economic and system dynamics modeling for expanding the capacity of US fiber recycling systems.

Initial appointments will be made for one year, with possibility of renewal for up to three years pending funding availability. The positions are available immediately.

Interested candidates should send a current CV to Professor Eric Masanet (eric.masanet@northwestern.edu), who will follow up with qualified candidates with further details.
