With a background of industrial geography, Dr. Xin Tong has been working on the spatial dimension of industrial ecology, both theoretical and practical, with a team based in College of Urban and Environmental Sciences of Peking University. She has worked on the Extended Producer Responsibility in e-waste management in China, especially the response from the domestic industry at this policy strategy at national, regional and local level for years, now extending the research interests to cover the relation between the global environmental governance and the technological change in developing countries broadly.

As the PhD supervisor for the Confucius China Studies Program (CCSP), Dr. Xin Tong would like to welcome student from overseas to cooperate in international comparative studies on sustainability transition under different local context, with the methods and tools of industrial ecology. The CCSP supports Sino-foreign Joint Research Ph.D. Fellowship, specifically for Ph.D. students in foreign universities who would like to study 6 months to 2 years in China, and Ph.D. in China Fellowship for master graduates to pursue doctoral degrees in China.
