Sustainable Energy Graduate Assistantship
State University of New York’s College of Environmental Science and Forestry Starting in August 2022 or January 2023
Dr. Therasme’s research group is seeking a qualified Ph.D. student to serve as a Graduate Assistant to support teaching and research activities. The selected student will assist professors with research or teaching tasks each semester, with average time requirements of a total of 20 hours per week of work.
Research Interests: We seek students with transdisciplinary research interests in sustainable energy and biomass conversion. We are very interested in working with students who would like conduct research on life cycle assessment of novel biomass conversion pathways producing bioenergy, biofuels, and bioproducts.
Qualifications: Admission to ESF’s PhD program in Sustainable Energy. Applicants should have:
- Superior grade point averages and Graduate Record Examination (GRE) scores,
- A record of publication in renowned peer-reviewed journal or proven research and writing skills,
- Excellent references,
- Excellent English speaking, listening, and writing
Benefits: Graduate Assistants receive a stipend, tuition waiver, and the ability to purchase discounted health insurance. The graduate assistant will receive assistantship for the duration of the program upon satisfactory review after the first year. Graduate Assistants receive 9-month academic year appointments. If funding is available, additional support may be provided for research during the summer months.
Start Dates: We are interested in applicants who can begin their Ph.D. program in either August 2022 or January 2023. Admission to the graduate program at ESF is competitive.
