Tenure track professorship at University of Hamburg

TENURE-TRACK PROFESSORSHIP (W1 TENURE-TRACK LEADING TO A W2)FOR BUSINESS ADMINISTRATION WITH A FOCUS ON THE CIRCULAR ECONOMY

commencing as soon as possible, ref. no. JP 270.

Responsibilities:
The successful candidate will be responsible for researching and developing concepts of the circular economy (e.g., industrial symbiosis, potential financing mechanisms) and their implementation in the energy and climate context. We expect the successful candidate to integrate her or his research and teaching into the key research area Climate, Earth and Environment and to cooperate in the Faculty’s research area Sustainability.

We further expect the successful candidate to offer both English- and German-language courses in the Faculty’s bachelor’s and master’s degree programs, in particular within the Department of Socioeconomics and the Faculty’s Graduate School.

Section 12 subsection 7 sentence 2 of the Hamburg higher education act (Hamburgisches Hochschulgesetz, HmbHG) applies.

Requirements:
Academic qualifications and additional requirements as specified in Section 18 HmbHG.

Further criteria:
Applicants are expected to have international research experience as well as a successful track  record in acquiring external funding and carrying out externally funded projects. The University places particular emphasis on the quality of teaching and therefore requests that applicants
provide details of their teaching experience and objectives.

The post holder is expected to acquire the language skills necessary to teach in German (Level C1 of the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages) within two years of commencing employment providing he or she does not have the requisite skills when starting.

A tenure-track evaluation will be conducted during the second phase of the junior professorship in order to determine whether requirements for appointment to a W2 professorship have been met.  Section 15 HmbHG applies. Upon proof that the candidate fulfills the requirements for an
appointment to a W2 professorship, he or she is eligible for a tenured professorship. The regulations prohibiting internal appointments (Hausberufungsverbot) also apply to this junior professorship.
