Full-time positions for recent graduates at U.S. Geological Survey

The Materials Flow Analysis Section in the National Minerals Information Center, U.S. Geological Survey is advertising for 1 – 2  economists and/or physical scientists under the Pathways Recent Graduate Program, GS-11 with a full performance level of GS-13, in Reston, VA.   The announcement will be open August 27 – September 10.
The Recent Graduate Program lasts for 1 year. Participants who successfully complete the Recent Graduate Program may be eligible for conversion to a permanent appointment or a term (1-4 years in duration) appointment without further competition.  In order to be eligible for an appointment under the Pathways Recent Graduate Program applicants must be a graduate within the past two years or if a veteran, may be up to six years.  See the announcement (link below) for very specific qualifications and eligibility requirements.

Duties include:
Collecting and analyzing data on mineral and material production, consumption, trade, recovery, recycling, and losses at each life cycle stage.
Developing new and improved methodologies and indicators for assessing supply risk, import reliance, price elasticities, and industrial sector vulnerabilities for non-fuel mineral commodities.
Writing and publishing reports for professional journals as well as popular publications.
